I have decided that if complaining about woes, self-inflicted worries, and cries of victim-hood, is all someone has to say to me–I’d rather they be silent. Meaning: I’m outta here! To listen to some people talk, one would think that life is one big funk, where you wake up everyday and know that there is nothing but drama, issues and problems to look forward to. There are people who, if they didn’t have the ability to complain, they would have nothing to say at all. Confession: I’m over you!
Oh, okay… Good-bye and be well.
If I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again–being spiritual, doesn’t mean pushover. Being positive doesn’t mean I’m a doormat. Speaking up for myself, doesn’t mean I’m negative. I’m no longer interested in handling people with kid-gloves when they come out with the verbal punches. If you come for me–know what you’re talking about. Because I will reflect you back to you.
Que sera, sera…
The thing is, we tend to measure ourselves by someone elses’ measuring stick, or tape. And, never take the time to say, “Hey, do I even want to do this?? Is this making me happy?” And, thus, we fight ourselves. I thought I wanted to be someone I’m so clearly not. And, therefore the true me, who tends to carve paths, rather than walk them, was kinda well…pissed off! It was horrible, there was a lot of stress, crying–running around, grinding, hustling, only to realize–I hadn’t left square one. Can you imagine?? You’re working your ass off for this idealization of who you’re supposed to be, and what your life is supposed to be like only to find out–you got NOWHERE!

A beacon’s moment of reflection
So, why wait to live the life you want, when the moment you choose to act on it–the universe, both seen and unseen conspires to deliver your life to you? Tonight, I had red wine and chocolate. The special occasion?? It’s Thursday, I’m Monica, and I wanted chocolate. Heehee… My very existence in this realm, in this now moment, was enough of a reason to celebrate. Isn’t yours existence enough a reason for you to celebrate? If you’re reading this, you’re probably breathing–cheers to that!
Discernment: Knowing versus Knowing
It’s becoming more and more critical for us to empower ourselves, and one another to act on the “knowing” of truth, as opposed to “idea” or, “ideals” of it. It’s unfortunate, but, true, that people will say things in order to gain, or maintain control over one another. It is also true, people have the ability to discern the intentions of one another, and whether or not these intentions are honorable.
The mold was broken after you–all of you.
We are so preoccupied with controlling things beyond our control: the weather, the money, the planet, people, nature, etc…. Poor little humans, you’re part of creation, not the creator of creation. Please…make that a mantra, would you? Rather than controlling one another, could you just get the hang of yourselves?! I mean, that’s something you can actually control–and, nothing more, by the way.
Perserverance: How change happens
I think boredom is a huge issue nowadays. The things we do to distract ourselves from the rut of habit. “I’ve always done it this way”. Okay, but, that doesn’t mean it can’t be done another way. “I’ve always been like this…” Yes, but, at anytime, you can choose to behave differently, thereby creating a new version of you in that particular “now” moment. Thus, you are no longer bored with yourself, your life, or the world–because you just changed it!
Whose to blame??
It’s so easy to blame corporations, the government, etc, but, at some point in time we also made the choice to play this dangerous game, and we are all suffering for it. And, no, ignorance is no longer an excuse. It’s never been wise to assume that anyone other than yourself has your best interest at heart. You have to treat yourself like the divine, precious, jewel you are–let them earn you, no matter who they are!
Apathy: When did you stop caring?
Why does it take a major disaster to snap us out of our apathetic coma? Why does a Katrina, a 9/11, a tsunami, and crisis in Haiti, etc have to happen for your heart to bleed for someone else? How many familes are being destroyed by some form of abuse, that neighbors, other family members, etc. are watching and not saying anything. And, how many children are killing themselves, because no one cares enough to say, “There’s nothing wrong with you–you’re fine, it’s the rest of the world that needs to open its judgemental mind about you.”
