I think it’s important that we know that we can control our responses to things. Even though we’re pulled in all sorts of directions to respond to things in a certain way, we have to remember that our response is a choice that we make. That being said, we can choose to have a good time regardless of the situations we encounter on our life’s journey.
For example, today, I’m not feeling to hot on a physical level. I’m having a serious post-nasal drip episode. Now, it sucks, no doubt, but, not so much as being congested with nothing draining. That SUCKS! On top of that, I had a second job interview, where I was sure I wasn’t going to like the person–and I was completely wrong! And, I think the reason is two-pronged. One: I decided regardless of being reminded how “conservative” the environment was/is, I was going to be myself. And, if they didn’t want to hire Monica, then they wouldn’t. Second: I decided I was going to have a good time regardless, because I already felt sick and had a low-grade fever, I didn’t need to worsen the situation by bring my emotions down too.
When you decide to have a good time no matter what, it changes everything before you–yourself even arrive. Great things are greater when you decide to have a good time no matter what. And, not so great things aren’t as bad, because your attitude is already in place. Our emotions are like a magnifying glass to everything, so we need to be more mindful as to how we use them. Try it and let me know what happens.
